Product Bulletin - Controlled Atmosphere Brazing Furnace Systems
Preparing the products for brazing - Cleaning
In order for proper brazing to occur, the products must be prepared for brazing. The first step is to clean the products of all oils, dirt, etc. prior to the fluxing process. This can be accomplished by utilizing a Thermal Degreasing Oven or an Aqueous Washer.
 |
Thermal Degreasing Oven |
A Thermal Degreasing Oven will thermally remove the
lubricating oils present on the heat exchanger from prior
fabrication stages. The assembled and fixtured product will be
placed on the oven conveyor for processing. The oven will
typically operate at 250 300 degrees C to vaporize the oils. If
light evaporative oils are used in the process, the vapors from
the products are vaporized in the combustion chamber. If heavier
lubricating oil are used an incinerator at the oven exhaust may
be required. The products must then be cooled back to ambient
temperature prior to the fluxing process.

Aqueous Washer |
Aqueous Washer - an alternative approach
to cleaning the products is to use a multi-stage washing unit.
The washer will remove the oils, dirt and aluminum fines that
could be present from the fabrication stages. The product is
transported on a stainless steel belt through an automatic
pre-wash, wash, rinse and blow-off cycles. As the product
exits the final rinse stage, it enters an ambient blow-off
section where a series of air knives strip the excess water
off of the part prior to the fluxing process.
