Although some furnaces manufactured today still incorporate
conventional instrumentation for temperature control, it is much more
common for the electrical control systems to include a programmable
logic controller (PLC) to perform relay logic, sequencing, and similar
functions. To complement the programmable controller, a
man/machine interface (MMI) is included to provide the operator with
screens to input information into the system that would be required for
a cycle, as well as providing displays for observing the performance of
the furnace.
The PLC/MMI combination can be designed to provide the following
features:
- Color Graphics
- Start-up Guide
- Recipe Control
- Temperature Display
- Alarm Annunciator
- Data Display/Report
- Menu Security
- SPC Displays
- Data Base Link
- Remote Trouble Shooting
- Tie-in to Plant Supervisory Computer
The proper selection of the hardware and customized software packages
allows the control system to be tailored to each individual customer's
needs and plant situation.
SECO/WARWICK can provide our proprietary
Conventional Ratio Control System for homogeneous furnace loads and our
Adjustable Ratio Control System for accurate temperature control and
uniformity when varying loading conditions exist. Download our
White Paper entitled Improving
Furnace Performance while Processing Uneven Loads with Adjustable Ratio
Control in .pdf format for more detailed information.
