In vacuum furnaces, SECO/WARWICK abandons traditional phase angle control, which negatively affects the power factor and generates disturbances. Instead, we use:
- Thyristor control based on a pure sine wave,
- Synchronization of heating systems throughout the hardening plant,
- Sequential load switching and power splitting to avoid exceeding the agreed power.
Results?
For one customer, this solution reduced reactive power from 3500 kVArh to 500 kVArh for 8 furnaces, and the Power Factor increased from 0.6 to over 0.92. Additionally, the demand for capacitor banks was reduced by up to 60%.
