THERMAL INSULATION COATINGS AND PAINTS
Thermal insulation paints and coatings for industrial furnaces are solutions that can significantly reduce the consumption of electricity and gas depending on the heating system.
One can consider applying coatings inside the furnace, outside, or both at the same time.
There are two approaches:
1. We add a thermal insulation coating inside the furnace (specifically between the insulation and the furnace casing). In this case, the coating retains the heat within the furnace and reduces the energy wasted on heating.
2. We apply coatings on the outside, removing the old paint that no longer had (or never had) thermal insulation properties. Here, we also gain savings in energy consumption. The gain is smaller, but the furnace does not heat up, increasing the comfort and safety of the workers.
Applying the coating inside the furnace – between the insulation and the casing- will redirect a significant amount of heat back, reducing the need for energy for the heating system.
Coatings applied outside the furnace casing can limit or stop heat emission directly to the surroundings of the device. This can prevent burns and significantly lower the room temperature, which is particularly unbearable in summer. Improving overall comfort for furnace operators is also worth noting.
/Benefits of using thermal insulation coatings and paints
/Reducing energy consumption:
Thermal insulation paints reduce heat loss, leading to lower energy consumption needed to maintain the desired temperature in furnaces
/Cost-saving
Thanks to reduced energy consumption, companies can significantly lower operational costs related to heating and cooling
/Improved energy efficiency
These paints increase the energy efficiency of furnaces, translating to more ecological and economical operation
/Surface protection
Thermal insulation coatings protect furnace surfaces from extreme temperatures, increasing their durability and lifespan
/Thermal comfort
In industrial buildings, these paints can improve thermal comfort within rooms, which is beneficial for workers
/Ecological
Thermal insulation paints are often produced in an environmentally friendly manner and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by lowering energy consumption
The choice of coating and its application site should always be based on detailed analysis and precise calculations. Improper selection of thermal insulation coating can have negative effects, such as overheating or even the destruction of the furnace insulation! Therefore, the approach should be comprehensive, considering the furnace’s construction, the insulation used, the heating system’s power, and the process taking place within.
The application of thermal insulation coatings or paints is usually planned during the furnace insulation replacement.
